The giant is very much alive. Harley-Davidson keeps moving mountains. The 28th edition of the 'European H. O. G. Rally', held from June 13 to 16, has once again exceeded the expectations of its organizers, the Milwaukee firm and Harley Owners Group, its owners club.
As it happened in 2012, the picturesque city of Cascais, in Portugal, has once again been the scene of the biggest event in the world of custom motorcycles in Europe, taking over from Prague 2018. And it has not disappointed.
In the last 7 years this emblematic event, free and open to the public, has doubled its participation, going from 25,000 to 50,000 attendees, and bringing together about 30,000 motorcycles from all over the continent. Awesome figures.
To the resounding success of this year's participation, the charm of the headquarters, a marvelous coastal coastal town, has been undoubtedly known for being the favorite place for the high spheres of the country to spend the summer. An old fishing village dotted with small cliffs and surrounded by delicious natural landscapes.
For four days Cascais has become the epicenter of the custom universe for harlero fans. Bikers from all parts of Europe have attended the event, especially Spaniards, who have taken advantage of the proximity to enjoy an exceptional biker environment.
As every year, the European HOG Rally has had an extensive program of leisure activities, including rock concerts, customization competitions, guided tours or the 'showroom' of the latest releases of Harley-Davidson.
On this occasion, all the spotlights have been placed, of course, on the new Livewire electric model, which has remained exposed throughout the event in the exhibition area. In addition to seeing on the spot the new commitment of the American brand for an electric motor, event attendees were also able to try it and experience new sensations thanks to the HD Jump StartTM driving simulator.
Another of the highlights has been the Custom Bike Show, the customization contest, which rewards the most original Harley Davidson motorcycle creations in different categories and where some of the best builders from around the world have participated.
But if there is something that truly catches the attention of this concentration, it is the traditional Sunday flag parade. This time there have been 7,500 bikers, arrived from 32 different countries, the participants. The tour? 32 kilometers along the spectacular Portuguese coast of Estoril and its fabulous landscapes, until culminating in the picturesque historic center of Cascais. The parade was so incredible that a time came when its length reached 10 km. Brutal!
In addition, on this occasion, the expected parade was attended by an exceptional guest: the creative director of Harley-Davidson General Merchandise and great-granddaughter of one of the co-founders, Karen Davidson, who could enjoy live and live the most spectacular of the event.
If reading all this you have been wanting to be there, do not worry. Next year you have another opportunity to live something similar. We are looking forward to knowing where the next one will be!
